Consists of six species: three coral snake species and three shield-nose species.

Aspidelaps lubricus (Coral snake)

Three subspecies are distinguished in southern Africa: Aspidelaps lubricus lubricus (Cape coral snake); Aspidelaps lubricus cowlesi (Angolan Coral snake); and Aspidelaps lubricus infuscatus (Western Coral snake).

Aspidelaps scutatus (Shield-nose snake)

Three subspecies are recognised, all occuring in southern Africa: Aspidelaps scutatus scutatus (Speckled shield-nose snake), Aspidelaps scutatus intermedius (Intermediate shield-nose snake); and Aspidelaps scutatus fulafulus.
