Nine genera and about 90 species (mainly South America, also Africa, Mascarenes and SE Asia), of which four genera and 10 species are native in southern Africa.

Piriqueta

About 20 species (mainly South America, warm regions of Africa and Madagascar), of which one, Piriqueta capensis, is native to southern Africa.

 

Streptopetalum

Three species (African), of which one, Streptopetalum serratum, occurs in southern Africa.

 

Tricliceras

About 11 species (tropical and subtropical Africa), of which seven species occur in southern Africa.

 

Turnera

About 100 species (mainly South American), of which one, Turnera oculata, occurs in southern Africa (northern Namibia).
