Callistemon (Bottlebrush genus)

Callistemon ?citrinus growing in Cape Town garden. Originates from Australia.

 

Thirty-four species, mainly endemic to Australia but there are also four species on New Caledonia island. Three species are naturalised in southern Africa and there are a further 10 species are cultivated in the region.

Native to eastern Australia.

 

Callistemon speciosus (Albany bottlebrush)

Native to western Australia.

 

Callistemon viminalis (Weeping bottlebrush)

Native to Australia, rarely naturalised in open places and by streams in Zimbabwe. See Flora of Zimbabwe.
