There are 105 species distributed in tropical regions, of which five are native to southern Africa. An additional three species are cultivated in southern Africa.

Native to Central America, West Indies and Peru.

Native to Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Kenya and Tanzania. Cultivated in the Lowveld Botanical Garden, Mpumalanga, South Africa.


Dorstenia hildebrandtii

Native to eastern tropical Africa.
