Sixty-four species, all native to southern Africa and mostly endemic to the region but with a couple with distributions extending as far north as Tanzania. Ficinia acrostachys and Ficinia macowanii are not included here, as their current taxonomical status is uncertain.

Ficinia radiata (Stergras)

Low-growing herb (4-20 cm high), growing in the fynbos of the Western Cape from Ceres to Stilbaai. The halo of broad, golden yellow bracts surrounding the flower head is distinctive.
