Twenty-eight species of which 12 species are cultivated in southern Africa. Some species, have been transferred to Saribus.

Livistona alfredii (Millstream palm)

Native to north-western Australia.

 

Livistona australis (Australian cabbage palm)

Native to eastern coastal areas of Australia.

Livistona carinensis (Somalian cabbage palm)

Native to Djibouti, Somalia and Yemen. 

 

Livistona chinensis (Chinese fountain palm)

Native to coastal forests of China (Guangdong and Hainan), Taiwan and southern Japan.

Livistona decora (Weeping cabbage palm, Ribbon fan palm)

[= Livistona decipiens]

Native to Queensland, Australia, from Magnetic Island near Townesville to Tewantin and Rainbow Beach.

 

Livistona drudei

Native to coastal and near-coastal regions of Queensland, Australia.

 

Livistona fulva (Blackdown fan palm)

Native to Queensland, Australia, where it is endemic to Blackdown Tableland.

 

Livistona inermis (Wispy fan palm)

Native to Northern Territory and Queensland, Australia.

 

Livistona loriphylla (Kimberley fan palm)

Native to the Kimberley region of Western Australia, where it grows in open forest and woodlands, as well as on sandstone outcrops and in gorges.

 

Livistona mariae (Giant cabbage palm, Central Australian fan palm, Central Australian cabbage palm, Palm Valley livistona )

Native to the Northern Territory, Australia, where it is endemic to the Finke River system in the Macdonnell Ranges.

 

Livistona muelleri (Small cabbage palm, Cairns fan palm)

Native to Australia, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

 

Livistona saribus (East Indian cabbage palm, Serdang)

Native to Laos, Vietnam, Kampuchea, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the Philippines.
