Calycanthaceae
Five genera and eleven species (North America, east Asia and northern
Australia), none of which are indigenous to southern Africa. However, two
genera (Calycanthus and Chimonanthus) and three species
are cultivated in the region. |

Lauraceae (Cinnamomum, Avocado,
Stinkwood, False Dodder family)
About 50 genera and 2500 species worldwide (mainly
tropics and subtropics), of which four genera and about 10 species are
indigenous to southern Africa. There is also another genus with a single
species that is naturalised in southern Africa. The family includes
Avocado,
Cinnamon,
Bay laurel (yielding bay
leaves) and Stinkwood. |

Monimiaceae
About 22 genera and 200 species (mainly tropical regions but also southern
South America, eastern Australia and New Zealand), of which one species,
Xymalos monospora, is indigenous to southern Africa. |

Hernandiaceae
Five genera and 55 species (pantropical), with one species, Gyrocarpus
americanus subsp. africanus indigenous to southern Africa
(Namibia and South Africa: Limpopo). |
