About 50 species, native to Africa, Arabian Peninsula, India and Madagascar. Four species are found in southern Africa.

Perennial dwarf shrub or herb, growing to height of 0.3 m. See Pooley (1998: 78). Distribution in southern Africa: South Africa > KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga; Swaziland.

Perennial dwarf shrub or herb, growing to height of 0.3 m. See Pooley (1998: 78); van Wyk & Malan (1997: 188); Onderstall (1984: 182).  Distribution in southern Africa: South Africa > KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Liimpopo, Gauteng; Swaziland.

Perennial dwarf shrub or herb, growing to height of 0.4 m.  Distribution in southern Africa: South Africa > Mpumalanga, Liimpopo. 

Crossandra zuluensis (Zulu Crossandra)

Perennial dwarf shrub or herb, growing to height of 0.4 m. See Pooley (1998: 78). Distribution in southern Africa: South Africa > KwaZulu-Natal, Mpumalanga, Liimpopo; Swaziland.
