raceme (adjective racemose).
An inflorescence (i.e. group of flowers on a plant) in which the oldest flowers
are at the base and the youngest are at the top.
rhizome (flowering plants). A
storage organ originating from the roots. Distinguished from normal roots by
having buds, leaves or scales arising from it. Plants with underground storage
organs are termed geophytes.
root. The part of the plant
that goes downwards, normally into the ground, anchoring the plant and absorbing
and conducting water and mineral nutrients.
