Cryptophyceae

Single-celled  with two flagellae and, except for Goniomonas, with chloroplasts. Found in a wide variety of moist places ranging from algal blooms in the sea and on beaches, to freshwater, to intestinal parasites in animals. 

 

Haptophyta

 

 

Stramenopiles

Include diatoms, golden algae, brown algae, yellow-green algae, downy mildews and water molds.

 

Alveolata

Includes sporozoans (e.g. Plasmodium that causes malaria), ciliates and dinoflagellates).
