A group of free-living amoebae that can be found in freshwater and marine habitats, as well as in soil.


Lists of taxa from Adl et al. (2005). Thus far I have not been able to verify which taxa have been recorded from southern Africa.


Korotnevella, Mayorella, Neoparamoeba, Paramoeba, Pseudoparamoeba, Vexillifera. Other possible genera: Boveella, Dactylosphaerium, Oscillodignum, Podostoma, Strioluatus, Subulamoeba, Trienamoeba.



Clydonella, Lingulamoeba, Platyamoeba, Vannella. Other possible genera: Discamoeba,
Pessonella, Unda.



Dermamoeba, Paradermamoeba, Parvamoeba, Sappinia, Thecamoeba.





Incertae sedis Flabellinea:

Flamella, Ovalopodium, Paragocevia, Pellita, Pseudothecamoeba, Thecochaos. Other possible genera: Gibbodiscus.
