Distribution includes Africa, South-Eastern Europe, Middle East and Central Asia. Of the 66 species, 50 have been recorded from Africa, and 31 from southern Africa.

Biton adamanteus

Occurs in Namibia (e.g. Sossus Vlei and Swakopmund) and South Africa (e.g. Richtersveld).

 

Biton arenicola

Recorded from Obib Sand dunes in the Diamond Area near Luderitz, Namibia.

 

Biton bernardi

Recorded from Hex River Valley through to the Groot Swartberg in the Western Cape, South Africa.

 

Biton betschuanicus

Recorded from Lobatsi in Botswana and Mafikeng in the Northwest Province, South Africa.

 

Biton browni

Recorded from Oranjemund in Namibia and from near Alexander Bay on the other side of the Orange River in the Northern Cape,South Africa.

 

Biton cataractus

Recorded from Augrabies Falls National Park (Northern Cape, South Africa) and Nambia.
